UbuntuにGoogle Earthを入れてみた が・・・

ヲイラのメインマシン（自作機 on Ubuntu 8.04）に、この動画に触発されてGoogle Earthをインスコしてみた。もちろん最新版の5.0βだ。

まずはインストールログを掲載する。

ダウンロードした.binファイルがそのままじゃ実行できないってことで、一手間多くなってるワケだな。
←インストールされると、こんなウィンドウが開くのだが、スターとボタンは押すなよと注意書きがあったので気をつけてほしい。

[アプリケーション]−[インターネット]メニュー欄にGoogleEarthができているので、おもむろに起動してみるのだがスタート画面のみ表示されてシャットダウンしてしまう。リブートして何度試しても同様の結果。

悲しきβ版の性なのか？それとも・・・。
ネットで調べてみると、同様のトラブルがヒットする。ひどいケースになるとGoogle Earthを起動するとX-Windowが落ちてログオフの状態になるなんてのも。

とりあえず、YouTube動画で感じたワクワクは一気に萎えてしまったので、アンインストールしておこう。
ちなみにアンインストールのログも掲載しとくので、こちらも参考にしていただきたい。

っとまあ、いくつかみつからないディレクトリがあったりするのだが、気にすることはないようだ。
とりあえずはβ版の文字がとれた頃、もう一度トライしてみようと思う。
